The term "Healthcare" is used incorrectly today. The correct term is "disease management".
There are no procedures in place in the system that encourage preventive action on the part of the consumer. Many of the chronic and eventually life threatening conditions are preventable through changes in lifestyle and eating habits. The current system in place today manages disease conditions and has no provision for preventive activities/education programs that encourage healthful habits. Protocols in "Healthcare" wait until the patient's condition deteriorates to the point that the symptoms are addressed but not the ultimate cause. Yes, you will occasionally hear brief suggestions about diet and exercise with no elaboration on the subject. Consider this: If the population changes it approach to use preventive measures and avoids today's pharmaceutical approach, America will get healthier, Big Pharma will lose $$ and they will do anything to prevent that from happening. There are more Pharma lobbiests in Washington, DC than there are members of congress in both houses. Democracy works when people put aside their apathy and let their opinions be known.
